Gone are the days of unsightly metal bands wrapped around every tooth and painful steel wires that were shoved into the bracket causing pain and discomfort as well as frequent visits to the orthodontic office.Today we bond low profile brackets to the teeth, so the brackets are much more comfortable. Dr. Engen uses high tech wires developed by NASA. These high tech “memory wires” are small and flexible wires which deliver a low, gentle force over a longer range of movement. As these high tech wires resume their original shape they bring the teeth with them. This allows for gentle movement of teeth with 6, 8, and sometimes even 10 weeks between appointments. This saves you from having to take time off of work, and taking the kids out of school excessively. This allows for more efficient tooth movement, decreasing treatment time and providing more comfort.
